So this weekend was a whirlwind. I'm gonna break it down for ya quickly before I head back to work... I just need to wrap my brain around it so this explaination is as much for me as it is for you.
I worked both Saturday and Sunday and walked with over $160 for a little over 10 hours of work... woot woot. First weekend in a while to make some money. Early Saturday morning before work I had to wake up, get ready and lock the dog in the bathroom so the contractors could fix the leak in my roof... thank gosh because the storms last night would have flooded the bathroom, those storms were NUTS!
I think I might unofficially officially have a bf... not sure the status of this but I believe it is more on the official side than unofficial. He liked my cooking, baking and also thinks I'm attractive. Three bonuses right there; boom boom boom. Three things that have never occured in my life until Saturday February 26th, 2011. Quite similar to POW POW POW which will be occuring in less than 12 days in DC.
I've visiting a close friend of mine and our DC chant is usually POW POW POW in reference to the song being new during my last trip to the city.
I'm all over the place, I feel a little out of control and can't wait to get to the gym tonight to work this all in my head as I work off my lunch (Bad Lindsay emerged and had a Chicken Schwarma Pita with Fresh Cut Fries)!
Happy Monday everyone, here's to a good week!

Fugly Friday
Wow, today has been a challenge. I really thought it would be smooth and was confidant Friday would be a good easy breezy day. Not true.
Last night after my gym excursion, I did the treadmill at an incline of 13 at a 3.5 pace (a few lower minutes to rest in between), 610 calories gone in 40 minutes. :) I was then super excited to get home to make a new recipe I've been itching to try. I present to you... Mini Meatloaves and Honey Roasted Red Potatos.
The meatloaf was awesome with it's ketchup/mustard/brown sugar glaze. The potatos were dissapointing. They didn't cook as well as the recipe indicated it would and their sweet honey glaze was unrecognizable in comparison to the meatloaf's. I would skip the pointless honey calories and go for plain rosemary roasted red potatos next time.
Then my friend Bridget and I made a cheesecake... bad news for calorie counting, but I had to for date night! Surprisingly though, if it is cut into 12 pieces, it's only 492 calories a slice, and thats using regular cream cheese, NOT low fat! I'm going to try the low fat next time and see what happens.
The problems all began with my roof leaking onto my hardwood floors during the monsoon. This is the third time it's leaked in a month and my condo association has promised it will be fixed soon, but I'm getting really sick of sitting down on a cold, wet toilet in the middle of the night. This was followed by a pretty sleepless night and my work computer crashing this morning.
I did have a pretty heavenly pesto & garlic paella for lunch today, added grilled chicken for some protein. The only issue there was that I was starving and ate too much of it... gym time tonight will be required even though I was advised by a friend that I was too stressed. I have to go now because of my lunch choice, sorry Sarah!
I'm exhausted and going to sign off now in hopes of reserving the rest of my energy to make a few more phone calls to potential recruits.
Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend, make smart choices at least 9 out of 10 times if you can!

Thursday Tangent: Destruction Alert!
This what I saw when I got home from a late work meeting last night. Colbie has taken her destruction one step further and moved on to things that are not paper products. I was extremely dissapointed in her, so much that I put her in her kennel for the day. This is a hard thing for me to do as I feel like being by herself for eight hours a day is punishment enough, let alone in a tiny, wire box. She left me no choice though, if she continues to tear things apart that she knows aren't hers, it's kennel time. I will be going home at lunch to check on her and let her strech her legs, but that's it.
I was so upset after seeing what she had done that I immediately put on my gym clothes and did 45 minutes on the treadmill and another 30 with some weights. I also drove my roommate to the airport early this morning so I'm a bit grumpy due to not having my full 6 hours ;) I've already had my special k with skim milk and a special k bar and am ready for my next snack, not good! Tonight's gym visit will be for a least an hour or more.
Boring update I know, but I'm hoping someone will get a laugh out of the crazy antics of my dog.
Peace out yo!

Wednesday Weigh In
I would love to say I'm not a morning person but I am usually pretty upbeat about two hours after I've been awake. It's the 15 minutes immediately following my alarm that are usually the most painful. I usually only get about 6 hours of sleep a night, which is never enough so I've been known to run into doorways, trip over the dog and mumble incoherently til after I've had time to adjust to being vertical. The point I'm trying to get around to is that I ate breakfast this morning before thinking about the consequences... guh rar! It's weigh in morning! Due to my sleep deprivation I had to weigh in with Special K Red Berries & Skim Milk chillaxing in my tummy.
I know that one cup of each doesn't make for a heavier weigh in, it just feels counterproductive. Either way, I lost my weekly goal of two pounds, so yay! I'm a bit frustrated as I worked with Heather twice last week in hopes to maybe bump it up to three but alas, my wayward weekend activities negated any progress I might have made.
So far I have been extremely attentive to staying well below my daily caloric allotment and have been to the gym both nights. Sadly, I have a conference planning meeting this evening that will prevent me from jumping on the treadmill. I'll just have to be extra good about what is going in my mouth through out the day!
Happy Hump Day Everyone! I hope you have a wonderful day and I will be back later this week!

It's a Fiesta!!
Well, I'm attempting to start the week off right... as the weekend was a slight disaster. Brief recap of my badness: ice cream, olive garden, whopper jr.
BAD LINDSAY!
Nooooow on to Good Lindsay. I ran home over lunch to get dinner started in the crock-pot. Salsa chicken, ladies and gentleman, is the easiest and tastiest meal you'll have this week! My dearest friend and twin Micha has requested the recipe, so here... we... go...
Salsa Chicken Ingredients
- 2 frozen chicken breasts
- 3 cups frozen corn
- 1 can of black beans
- 1 jar of salsa
- 1 cup of chopped red onion
Place frozen chicken breasts on the bottom of crock pot and top with the black beans, corn and salsa. Cook on low for 8-9 hours or until chicken falls apart easily OR high for 5-6 hours. Top with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese and voila! Pairs well with totilla chips for dipping or mexican rice. Can you believe that one serving is 292 calories and super yummy??
Tonight's exercise consisted of using the fat burning option on the treadmill... that was fun ;) Constantly changing inclines to keep my heart rate around 127. I was up to 9% incline at a pace of 3.7. The hard part was having to keep my hands on the sensors the entire time... I was kinda sweaty sooo I was doing the butt wipe quite often.
I hope everyone gives the recipe a try and enjoys! I'm aiming for another 2 lb loss by Wednesday, so I'll catch ya then!

Two sessions with Heather in one week!
It's official. As of yesterday, I've lost 15 pounds, woot woot! Only 65 more to go. Game on.
So far this week has been pretty good as far as getting my veggies in, fruits have fared a little worse. I have my usual stock pile of clementines but keep forgetting to pack them in my lunch bag. Soon it will be lent and all meat will dissapear from my diet... protein shakes anyone?
I made enough money this past weekend to pay for my Rent ticket for the BW show and for two training sessions with Heather my trainer. We worked together on Tuesday and I did my first attempt at the rowing machine, I'm a natural ;) Then she had me do this tippy toe stripper squat move that actually didn't aggravate my knee much at all. I felt a little dirty doing it, Heather told me to get my mind out of the gutter and think ballet vs. stripper. I'm excited to see what torture she has scheduled for this evening.
After, my friend Bridget and I will be getting our brows threaded and then we'll be eating at one of my favorite places, Hoggy's BBQ. It's important to note that yes I will be getting the mac and cheese AND the baked potato with BBQ pulled pork. I will halve them and eat the remainder for lunch tomorrow so I don't nullify my workout. I just can't wait to have some normal cheese that melts for once vs. the fat free stuff I've been cooking with, just a teeny indulgence.
As stated earlier, tomorrow is Rent at BW. I'm taking a half day from work to drive to Dusky to drop off Colbie Jack and then I'm heading over to my Alma mater. I'm planning on buying a new pair of sweats as my current pair was purchased over 5 years ago and are getting a bit thin. I'm gonna catch dinner with Theresa at Cornerstone and then enjoy some awesome music sung by my friend Jason Samuel.
The warm weather calls for outdoor walks with the dog and mother and then plenty of wii time with my daddy. All in all, I jam packed but wonderful weekend of friends and family!
I wish you all a great weekend and will check in with you next week!

Did it again!
Since I was running short on time today I knew that I was aiming for another short elliptical "run". Since today was also valentine's day, I had the gym to myself and could grunt all I wanted :) I was aiming for 2 miles in 20 minutes again... and dun dun dun... 2 miles done on the double peak setting and all done in less than 17 minutes! I did stop to run to the drinking fountain at 10 minutes but I still consider it a feat.
I don't think I'll ever be able to run like that anywhere else but on the elliptical, but oh well, it's fine for me!
I have two training sessions this week, Tuesday and Thursday. Then I'm heading on up to Berea on Friday to see my good friend Jason in his last BW musical, Rent!! The rest of the weekend will be spent enjoying the warmer weather up on Lake Erie and getting Colbie some good ball chasing time in.
On a sad note, a family friend's dog passed away suddenly from an aneurism and it make me realize how blessed I am to have such a wonderful dog in Colbie... I need to remember that next time she destroys something I consider valuable.

Wha WHAT?
Ok, let's start this entry with the really surprising, awesome part.
I just ran two miles in 20 minutes.... the first mile was done by 9 minutes 30 seconds! OMG!
I'm in shock. I just finished a mile in about the same time I did my senior year of high school! I know this because I was tortured by Coach Didion by having to finish a mile in under 10 minutes. AND this was all done on my worst enemy, the elliptical!!!!
Now the bad news... I slipped on the ice outside my house and pulled my already tight quad. Now I'm on the couch with a heating pad and basking in my glorious accomplishment, so it won't be happening again for a least a week. I really hate being a klutz!
